Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social work or the social or behavioral sciences
  2. Personal or professional experience with adoption, crisis pregnancy or other related field, and proficient counseling skills
  3. Have a working knowledge of the grief process in children and adults

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provide options and/or relinquishment counseling to expectant parents
  2. Maintain client case files in compliance with the state regulations and the standards of this agency
  3. Participate in the labor, delivery and discharge procedures at the hospital
  4. Prepare relinquishment and termination documents and coordinate their execution
  5. Attend and be prepared to testify in all court proceedings relative to the relinquishment and termination of parental rights
  6. Provide post relinquishment counseling to birth families following placement
  7. Conduct SAFE home study assessments for prospective adoptive families
  8. Maintain at least monthly contact with all assigned adoptive families
  9. Provide the state-required six months of supervision of assigned adoptive families
  10. Prepare written reports as required by state regulations, state statute and this agency

General Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in regular supervision with the Director of Child Placement
  2. Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings and agency events
  3. Participate in the 24-hour on-call system which includes occasional evening and weekend work
  4. Pursue ongoing personal education as per agency policies.
  5. Other duties, as assigned
