Adoptive Family and Birth Family Caseworker

What do I love about my job? I count it a true privilege to walk along side expectant parents, partnering with them as their stories unfold whether they choose to parent their child or make an adoption plan. Both require careful thought and consideration and supporting each individuals unique needs and desires is something I enjoy. I also think it is exciting to help facilitate relationships between adoptive families and expectant parents by providing needed education and support along the way. Adoption is a wonderful process but can feel scary and overwhelming at times. It’s immensely gratifying to witness those involved have their worries calmed, questions answered and move from a place of uncertainty to peace.
Education: I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA in 2002. I went on to receive my Masters of Social Work from the University of Denver in 2010.
Responsibilities: Meet with expectant parents to discuss different options and provide on-going support to those who choose a plan of adoption, complete adoptive family home assessments, post-placement services and facilitate match meetings as well as oversee placement at hospitals and birthing centers.
